Exploration of the topological phase transition in the toric code via variational quantum circuits

Abstract

Based on Ref.[1], we designed a parameterized quantum circuit that is able to prepare the toric code ground state under the perturbation of an longitudinal magnetic field or Ising interations using varational quantum eigensolver. Moreover we designed a new circuit to prepare the ground state in the region where the topological phase breaks down due to strong antiferromagnetic Ising interation.
